As we aproach the Bangkok Gem & Jewelry Fair later this month, let’s take a look at what the Vogue and Elle are predicting as the jewelry trends for Spring/Summer 2018. What we see so far as : Asymetrical earrings Many necklaces worn together Statement earrings “Bolo” style necklaces Cuff bracelets with an interesting element As ever, jewelry is an individual taste, of course, and what works on the runway doesn’t neccesarrily mean it will work in the shops but they certainly makes wonderous and captivating visuals on the glossy pages. So, take away from it what you think your customers may like, but never jump on the bandwagon without consideration for your market. We have used some of these trends to inspire our new collection as well as adding our own creativity to some of the new styles we will be offering at the Bangkok Gem & Jewelry Fair. We have not read the French classic The Scarlet & The Black but the title is very dramatic, n’est-ce que pas? The high contrast hues have certainly inspired one designer this year: Armani Prive Fall/Winter collection is a luxurious and bold collection with red and black as the dominant themes. The heart is fast trending in fashion. Leading the pack is Burberry with it’s heart patterned shirt and accessories, seen on celebrities such as Victoria Beckham and Harry Styles! Black and white photos, black and white checker board, black and white diamonds… the stark contrast between these two colors has always been attractive to the eyes. This spring, black and white can be found in all manner of fashion accessories and clothing, so it becomes supremely important to distinguish the fashionista from the trend-followers. Classic, cool and chic, Sasi Bon’s monochrome pearl and black agate necklace offsets the two extreme colors with an intermediate soft and satiny gray of the genuine freshwater pearls. Gemstones were created by nature over millions of years, each piece of gemstone, cut from the whole, seems to have a life of its own. My how time flies! (Gosh, we notice only old people say that!) As we approach the end of the year, Sasi Bon is looking forward to the emerging trends of next year.
